It was a rough night! Sleep was spasmodic. It felt that the contents of one's body were being pummelled. On rising it was difficult to keep one's balance. J actually fell in the cabin, fortunately without injuring himself. J had brought the reserved Sacrament so we were able to receive communion to start the Lord's Day. Many didn't make it to breakfast. The doctor was issuing injections to the worst affected but she was ill herself! Although J was retching this morning neither of us, so far have been actually sea-sick. We are doing this for PLEASURE?!
We had a light breakfast, fruit and toast, though J had some scrambled eggs. After registering our credit card for use when making any purchases on board we attended the Interdenominational Service in the Neptune Lounge at 9.30. This was followed at 10.00 by a talk by Colin Newsome about our first three ports of call, illustrated by slides. These are Villagarcia de Arosa, Lisbon and Cadiz. Next, at 11 was a talk by David Hurrion the gardening expert who told his life story, how he had got into gardening, his training and his career. For those who did not wish to participate in these pursuits there were various sporting activities.
Lunch was a cold buffet, very attractively laid out. I took a couple pictures of the angry sea through a window!

We have not ventured to the outside decks. Maybe when the weather improves! After lunch I read part of the introduction to The Lord of the Rings. J went back to the cabin for a rest. At 2.00 I attended the second lecture by Colin Newsome, about the next three ports of call - Malaga, Gibraltar and Ceuta. One high lurch caused about a dozen people to fall off their chairs! And they had been warned! After the talk I went for a rest. J was out for the count. Tonight was the Captain's official reception and formal dinner so it was posh frocks and dinner jackets. J wore his new birthday shirt and red bow tie. For me it was long black dress and black lacy jacket/overblouse. The Captain and his staff welcomed us individually and we were photographed with the Captain. Dinner was excellent again. We both had Avocado with strawberries and salad, J had beef soup and I had chilled mango soup. We both had salmon with Crepes Suzettes for dessert. After coffee/tea in the Aquitaine lounge we retired. Its now 9.00pm, J has been reading and is just settling for the night. I'll be doing the same shortly.
